Pool maintenance

How do I winterize my pool?

Prefabricated pools from RivieraPool can hibernate while filled. In short, mild winters, the filter system can continue to run (active overwintering), meaning that additional preparation for winter and startup in the spring is not required. Whether the pool needs to be shut down completely (passive overwintering) depends on how the pipes and filter systems are positioned and how susceptible they are to frost. In any case, you should consult the pool specialist who installed your pool, as they can assess the situation at your location. If the pool is completely shut down, a few preparatory steps for winterization are necessary, such as backwashing and emptying the filter systems, draining the pipes, and protecting the lights and access ladders against frost. Add a winterizing agent to the pool water to prevent the build-up of algae and scale. Depending on the model, close the roller shutter cover as well. At the end of the pool season, you should plan to spend about one day on winterization tasks. Alternatively, you can of course outsource the winterization work to your specialized pool contractor.
