How can I add heat energy to my pool and what do the individual options cost?

The supply of energy for the pool is primarily provided by the pool cover. This is available as a so-called solar cover, i.e. the cover slats are transparent on top, black on the underside and conduct the sun's heat to the water while the pool is closed. The water is warmed up for free, depending on solar radiation up to 3 degrees free of charge per day! At the same time, the cover ensures that the heat gained remains in the water. Based on the average solar radiation in Central Germany, a 4x8 meter pool can be supplied with approx. 5,000 kWh of energy in this way.

In second place are heat pumps, which extract energy from the ambient air and direct it into the pool. A heat pump runs on electricity and can produce up to 5 kWh of heat per kWh of electricity consumed – so its heat gain is significantly higher than its electricity consumption. Heat pumps are therefore particularly energy efficient.

Likewise, the pool can be connected to the home heating system. In this case, the pool would be heated with gas or oil, which causes even lower energy costs than the heat pump. However, access to the heating system is usually only possible in new buildings.
