Are the pools guaranteed to be waterproof? What about osmosis?

Epoxy acrylate is poured as a thick liquid material onto a molded part. This enables a homogeneous and pore-free material structure that is 100 percent waterproof. All built-in components are specifically designed for use in RivieraPools. This means that flanges and their seals sit on the smooth inside of the pool and are therefore permanently installed to be watertight. Leaks in this construction can thus be ruled out. Only the connection of the built-in parts can leak if the pool is not optimally founded on a concrete slab or firmly anchored in the ground.

The term “osmosis” refers to the migration of moisture into plastics under “osmotic pressure”. This means that the dry plastic material, particularly the fibers of the laminate that may be exposed, wants to absorb moisture from the water. Every plastic does this, which is taken into account when designing the material structure. The decisive factor is that the moisture must not react with the material. This is where the chemical resistance of epoxy acrylate comes into play. It encloses the fibers, guarantees a homogeneous integration of the fibers, and does not allow a reaction in the form of acid formation within the laminate. In addition, the properties of the glass fiber are matched to the epoxy acrylate in such a way that the fiber can no longer absorb moisture after processing. A long curing phase, known as “tempering,” takes place over hours in a heating chamber and ensures that the material layers can fully polymerize. This represents a major difference to other thermoplastic materials: these are softer and release plasticizers over their entire service life. Epoxy acrylates belong to the thermosetting plastics, are cured, individually tested for “Barcol hardness” and are “finally stable” with a targeted flexibility so that they cannot break like glass. This results in the unique values required for a prefabricated swimming pool. Few manufacturers master this process. That is why at RivieraPool we speak of “investment security”, because you only build such a pool once. The construction and choice of materials must not be a compromise.
