Natural pools combine ecology and design

Pre-fabricated pools from RivieraPool are also available as natural pools. Natural pools from RivieraPool combine the advantages of pre-fabricated pools with natural water treatment: The DLine pre-fabricated swimming pools stand for chic, modern design and extensive comfort features. If a bio-filtration zone is installed upstream, the pre-fabricated pool becomes a natural pool with naturally soft and particularly skin-friendly water.

“Our working and living environments have long been shaped by high-tech. In their leisure time, however, more and more people value naturalness, deceleration and a retreat into family life,” says Marketing Director Uwe Rengers, explaining the trend towards natural pools.

The natural pool is particularly suitable for allergy sufferers and nature lovers, as the water is treated in a purely biological way. A regeneration zone made of plants, gravel and microorganisms is connected upstream of the actual pool. This is either attached directly to the swimming pool or can be located a few meters away from it. Pool water continuously flows through the planted filter zone with the help of a pump, so that the nutrients from the pool water are stored in the filter substrate and broken down by the biomass. The microorganisms in the plant zone clean the pool water in a natural way and keep it sustainably balanced. Due to this gentle cleaning, the water in a natural pool is noticeably soft, very skin-friendly and is even of drinking water quality.

Swimming and cleaning zone
The natural pool is divided into a swimming area and a cleaning area. Around 90 percent of the total area is available for swimming, while the filter zone takes up around 10 percent of the area. A natural pool therefore requires slightly  more space than a conventional swimming pool. Unlike swimming ponds, however, the swimming area of a natural pool remains completely free of aquatic plants and animals.

Comfort features & modern design
Natural pools from RivieraPool offer all the comfort features of a classic prefabricated swimming pool: counter-current and massage systems can be integrated just as easily as  pool lighting and pool covers. Natural pools can also be heated. However, so that the microorganisms can adjust to the temperature, heating up slowly is recommended. “The microorganisms can tolerate a water temperature of up to 25 degrees Celsius,” says Uwe Rengers, explaining the background to why the water in a natural pool cannot be heated as much as in a conventional pool. A natural pool can be operated particularly sustainably if a solar cover heats the pool water using the power of the sun.

In terms of design, RivieraPool's natural pools do not differ from other prefabricated pools: A natural pool also comes in a linear, modern design. Anyone wishing to emphasize the naturalness of their pool relies on accompanying materials such as natural stone and wood. A dark pool color, for example in granicite black, emphasizes the naturalness of the water. The filtration zone can also be deliberately integrated into the design of the pool landscape, creating a near-natural bathing landscape.
